Book Club is a personal book-journaling app for iPhone and iPad. Create as many "book club" journals as you like, add the books you've read to each one, search for a book by title or author to auto-fill its cover and details, or design a custom cover by hand. Rate every book, write a review, and save your favorite notes and quotes — all stored privately on your device.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
No account or sign-in is required, and most of the app works entirely offline. An internet connection is
only used briefly when you tap "Search Books" to look up a title or author online.
How does the book search work?
Enter a title, an author, or both, then tap "Search Books." Book Club looks up matches using the public
Google Books API and shows you a carousel of covers to choose from — pick one to auto-fill the book's
title, author, and synopsis, along with its cover image.
Can I design my own cover instead of using a search result?
Yes. From the book details step, tap "Upload Custom Cover" to choose and crop a photo from your library,
or use the Cover Designer (available when creating a new journal) to draw a cover by hand with pen,
marker, and eraser tools, add a background photo, and place title text.
Where is my data stored, and is it shared with anyone?
Everything — your books, ratings, reviews, notes, quotes, and journal titles — is stored only on your
device. It is never uploaded to a server or shared with other people; there are no accounts and no
social features.
How do I reorder or move books between journals?
Open a journal's Table of Contents to sort books manually, alphabetically, by rating, or by date added.
Tap the arrow icon next to a book to move it into a different journal, or use Edit mode to drag books
into a new order or delete them.
I found a bug or have feedback. How do I reach you?
Email us at skipthefrog@gmail.com and we'll get back to you.
